Recover a stuck or failed preparation
Check the existing operation, understand reserved credits, and know when it is safe to try again.
Updated
Return to the existing version first
A slow response or closed Studio window does not prove preparation failed. The operation can remain processing while its result is recovered. Starting another preparation can create unnecessary work while the first outcome is still unknown.
Messages such as Your preparation is still processing or Your preparation is being reconciled mean the existing operation needs a status check. Keep the same account and browser recovery data while resolving it.
- Return to Studio in the same account and open the source version you were preparing, using its saved design history.
- Read the displayed message and inspect the version thumbnails for a completed prepared result.
- If there is no completed result, return to that same source version and use its preparation action to check the saved operation. Avoid creating a new source version or submitting repeated fresh preparations.
- Check the Design Credits display for reserved credits and any available balance change. A reservation is work in progress, not proof of a final charge.
- If the operation cannot be recovered or remains unresolved after checking it, ask support to inspect the existing operation.
Match the message to the next step
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Still processing or being reconciled | Check the same version and existing operation. Do not treat an unknown outcome as a failure. |
| Price changed or quote expired | If no earlier operation is pending, review the current quote for the intended version before explicitly retrying. |
| Not enough credits | Finish any top-up and confirm the grant, then choose Make Print Ready yourself. Purchase does not automatically rerun the action. |
| Source too large, unreadable, or invisible | Preserve the original; check format, bytes, pixel count, and visible artwork before using a valid source. |
| Preparation or in-progress limit | Let existing work resolve. The waiver limit uses a rolling 24 hours; the daily credit reset is a separate UTC clock. |
| Confirmed failed output or preparation | Check the reservation release, then review a new quote before an explicit retry. Escalate repeated failures with a valid source. |
What happens to reserved credits?
Credits held for preparation settle when usable delivery is confirmed. A definitive preparation failure releases the reservation. An uncertain submission or timeout can remain processing or require reconciliation; it is not a promise of an immediate release.
Daily credits return to the original UTC-day bucket used by the reservation. If that day has passed, do not expect the release to add those credits to today’s daily allowance. A reservation release is also separate from a refund of a credit-pack payment; this workflow does not promise refund timing.
If the balance and the confirmed operation outcome disagree, ask support to inspect the operation. Do not buy another pack solely to repair a missing result or unexplained reservation.
Give support enough information to find the operation
Keep passwords, card numbers, security codes, banking details, authentication codes, access tokens, and signed delivery links out of the request. Share artwork only through an authorized support flow when needed. A screenshot can help explain an error, but it is not a replacement prepared file.
- Design/version or operation identifier, if shown, and the page or tool you used.
- Approximate start time with time zone and the exact visible status or safe error text.
- Displayed available and reserved credits, and whether a prepared result appears in Studio or My Designs.
- For a rejected source: format, file size, pixel dimensions, and intended print dimensions.
